Watch a child move and you cannot help but be entranced by the freedom and grace of their movement. Unfortunately, the pathway to adulthood is littered with influences that can produce a gradual and insidious decline in physical function. As a consequence, new, poorer patterns of movement may develop, until efficiency becomes so compromised that the body’s supporting structures fail and pain is experienced. Whilst a very gradual process (often mistakenly assumed to be a normal and irreversible part of aging), it is often not until some minor trauma that pushes a person over the edge to pain that advice is sought. Physiotherapists have long been experts in reducing pain and improving physical function. Physiotherapists have embraced Pilates and combined it with the latest scientific research into core stability, movement patterning and physical pathology to develop a new, unique rehabilitation process called Clinical Pilates. Clinical
Pilates is offered to people who require precise and specific exercise
programs to improve their physical dysfunction.
Clinical Pilates contributes greatly to the Exercise Rehabilitation that is already provided. Riseley Physiotherapy

PILATES TRIAL Clinical Pilates @Riseley On first attendance in our Gymnasium you will spend an hour with the physiotherapist for a thorough examination - including the use of still and video digital imaging of posture and movement quality. A thorough program will be developed and you will be taught how to improve the quality of your movement and motor control. After the initial assessment you will then commence your program under constant supervision - each person will be doing their own program at their own pace, whilst the physiotherapist ensures correct performance and modifications as required. Changing entrenched movement patterns takes time so we do not recommend reassessment until after twenty sessions. Once the problem has been resolved we will recommend a maintenance program via Pilates Instruction. As your consultations are being provided by a physiotherapist the costs may be claimed against your private health insurance. For more details contact us now. ![]() |
