The Path to Injury and Pain

Watch a child move and you cannot help but be entranced by their freedom and grace not to mention their energy.  Their movements are performed with ease and spontaneity, and they sit and stand without the need for any support.

Unfortunately the pathway to adulthood is often fraught with many negative physical influences, such as physical and emotional stresses, postural constraints (eg, ill fitting desks and chairs), accumulated falls and bumps, injuries, a sedentary lifestyle, reduced time for exercise and degenerative changes in our spine and joints.

These ‘individually small’ effects together produce a gradual and insidious decline in physical function.  As a consequence, new, poorer patterns of movement develop, until efficiency of movement can become so compromised that the body’s supporting structures begin to fail.  Whilst a very gradual process that goes by unnoticed, it often needs only a small trauma to push the weakened structures "over the edge" to realise injury and pain.

Initially treatment is sought or medication taken and the pain settles, but because the underlying issues are not being addressed the problem recurs – gradually increasing in frequency, intensity and time taken to recover.  Resolution can only occur when the underlying issues are resolved.

About Us

Our History

There has been a physiotherapist in Riseley Street for over forty years, however the ownership of the practice has changed hands many times in that time.  Our current principal commenced work here in 1994.  Within a few years he purchased the practice and with his vision started its extraordinary growth from a single practitioner small business.

We became a proprietary limited Company on the 1st January 2001 when our second principal joined the company to build a specialist rehabilitation gymnasium.  Every year since we have added more and more services to help us help people move better.  We have grown to now employ over twenty people and become one of the ten largest practices in Australia.

Our Future

As our expertise in helping people move becomes known, demand for our services increase.  We not only continue to grow locally, but are also taking our business nationally and internationally by making our knowledge and expertise - via programs and resources - available on the internet and world wide web.  Helping us achieve our vision of changing the way the world moves.
